2021 INCOSE International Symposium (IS) After Action Report
If you went to IS2021 and would like to provide us a report, we’ll add it to this post. Send your experience to communications@incose-cc.org.
The INCOSE Symposium has a rich history that dates back to 1991, and has continued uninterrupted every year to the present. INCOSE’s Annual International Symposium is the largest worldwide annual gathering of people who do systems engineering for four days of presentations, case studies, workshops, tutorials and panel discussions. The program attracts an international mix of professionals at all levels, and includes practitioners in government and industry, as well as educators and researchers. For the past two years the event has gone virtual, allowing people from across the world to attend. Highlights can be found in the video below:
From the Chesapeake Chapter’s perspective - we had 29 members who participated, four who presented or chaired events. Five papers were presented by our members:
Paper #83: Broadening the Definition of Breadth in Systems Engineering [James Armstrong (Stevens Institute of Technology)]
Paper #24: Employing a Model Based Conceptual Design Approach to Design for Resilience [David Flanigan (The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory), Kevin Robinson (Shoal Group)]
Paper #43: Agility in the Future of Systems Engineering (FuSE) - A Roadmap of Foundational Concepts [Keith Willett (Dept of Defense), Rick Dove (Self), Alan Chudnow (Northrop Grumman), Emmet Eckman (Northrop Grumman), Larri Rosser (Raytheon), Jennifer Stevens (NASA), Robin Yeman (Lockheed Martin), Michael Yokell (Raytheon)]
Paper #45: Security as a Functional Requirement in the Future of Systems Engineering [Keith Willett (U.S. Department of Defense)]
Paper #49: Security in the Future of Systems Engineering (FuSE), a Roadmap of Foundation Concepts [Rick Dove (Independent), Keith Willett (U.S. Department of Defense), Tom McDermott (Systems Engineering Research Center), Delia MacNamara (Australian Government), Holly Dunlap (Raytheon Technologies), Cory Ocker (Raytheon Technologies)]
And our Chapter won the coveted Chapter Platinum Award and Good Neighbor Award (Read more about INCOSE Chapter Awards)
All and all it was a very successful symposium. We hope to see you next year in Detroit.
