Dan O’Neil

Since 2018, Mr. Dan O’Neil has served as Innovation Lead and Systems Engineer at Johns Hopkins University - Applied Physics Lab (APL). In his role Dan has supported a variety of sponsors including the Navy, Air Force, Health & Human Services (HSS), Defense Health Agency (DHA), and Center for Disease Control, and. His work involves designing and developing integrated systems that combine advance technology and human interaction.
After graduating from West Point, Dan served 10 years in the US Army including combat engineer command in Germany and the Gulf War. After leaving the service, Dan worked in business planning and innovation and roles for the Walt Disney Company and Mayo Clinic.
Dan O’Neil holds the following degrees:
B.S. in Applied Mathematics from the US Military Academy (West Point)
M.S. in Industrial Systems Engineering for the Georgia Institute of Technology
M.B.A. from Duke University
Dan is currently pursuing an M.S. in Systems Engineering from the Johns Hopkins University and a member of INCOSE, INFORMS, HIMMS, and Project Management International (PMI).
He is a certified project and program manager (PMP\PgMP) and an active practitioner in systems engineering in both health and defense systems as well as a former school board member and mentor of student innovation teams through APL's Student Program to Inspire, Relate and Enrich (ASPIRE).
